My Bristol Favourites: Bobbi-Jo O’Gilvie
Bobbi-Jo O’Gilvie is a designer and developer turned startup founder who came to Bristol by way of Miami.
While not working on revolutionising the way women access support in their careers or crafting websites and brands for her clients, you can find her hanging out with her dog, lost in a book, moderating @IGersBristol on Instagram or training for a marathon.
These are Bobbi-Jo’s top-five Bristol favourites:

“This is where I go to take a deep breath (and spot the occasional hot air balloon) while enjoying some of the best views in Bristol. With great coffee spots nearby, lots of room for dogs to play and charm distinct to other green spaces in Bristol, it’s the perfect picnic or thinking spot!”
Everyday Thai

“A friend once told me that Everyday Thai in Fishponds boasts the best Thai food in Bristol. And they were correct: this is one of my staples for fantastic, authentic food served with love and joy. Made better by the family atmosphere cultivated by the owner, who’ll usually stop by your table to say hello. I always know that I’m in for a real treat when I dine-in or grab dinner to go.”
Fi Real

“It takes a lot for me to outsource Jamaican food since I cook my own family’s recipes in heavy rotation, but Fi Real’s take on vegan and vegetarian Caribbean food is really impressive. This restaurant in Old Market is a new-to-me favorite, but one I know I can lean on when I don’t want to cook but need a taste of home.”
Mi Cafe Su Cafe

“If you’ve ever been bopping down the Bristol & Bath Railway Path and stopped by a kitted out Citröen HY serving coffee, you’ll understand why Mi Cafe Su Cafe makes my list. Adam and his infectious personality serve up great coffee, wonderful vibes, seasonal baked goods and a perfect power up if you’re mid-run, -cycle, -walk or -hop down the path.”
Bookhaus

Bookhaus was officially opened by David Olusoga in 2021 – photo: Martin Booth
“When I’m not trying to take over the world, I’m reading. (Sometimes I attempt to do both at the same time!) I’ve always loved Bristol’s independent bookshop scene and there’s something really special about roaming around a store staffed by book lovers for book lovers who are always looking for books to keep the rest of their books company. Bookhaus in Wapping Wharf also has a great mix of author events that you wouldn’t normally get to see. It’s always top of my list when I need a new book to get lost in.”
