My Bristol Favourites: Chris Nash-Jones
Chris Nash-Jones is the general manager of the new Turtle Bay on Cheltenham Road. The new Caribbean restaurant, which replaces Plantation near the arches, was put through its paces by our critic this week.
Here are Chris’ top-five Bristol favourites:
St Nicks Market
is needed now More than ever
“A wonderful market where you can find everything from handmade jewellery and clothes to blow-your-head-off chilli sauce and beautiful cakes. I love a little roam around here on a Saturday afternoon.”
Trinity Centre
“Trinity is arguably one of the best venues in Bristol, formerly Holy Trinity Church. Great live music nights and gigs as well as community projects and courses.”
Turtle Bay
“Obviously, Turtle Bay is one of my favourite places to spend time. The harbourside restaurant and bar is a slice of the Caribbean in Bristol, and its spicy food and two for one cocktails is always a favourite for me.”
Food Connections Festival
“It’s great to see such a lovely festival doing so well. Celebrating everything foodie, the Food Connections Festival comes to Bristol once a year in April/May. Their 2016 programme was bigger than ever, including cooking demos, banquets, debates and talks.”
St Paul’s Carnival
“I love going down to Bristol’s annual Caribbean carnival which takes over the streets of St Paul’s with music, food and dancing. I especially love heading down to the Malcolm X Centre where they always have some good acts on.”
