These are Dan’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Friendly Records

“The two things that set my heart on fire: music and tasty beverages, all wrapped up into one high street store. Friendly Records on North Street is a record shop busting at the seams with ace tunes, and their little bar next door is well stocked with the local delights. Lock the doors; I ain’t leaving!”
Woodcroft Community Orchard

“I am a country boy at heart, so the opportunity to connect to a bit of rural landscape, and spend some time in an orchard is one I relish in the city. Who’d a thought that was possible in Brislington? At Woodcroft Community Orchard there’s wildflower, honeybees, and of course apples. Lush!”
The Lazy Dog

“The Lazy Dog on Ashley Down Road is a divine boozer. Good ales, nice ciders and the best beer garden in Bristol. On a rare day off, you’ll find me here, curled up in the shade with a cold pint. Bliss.”
The Dings

Located between Temple Meads and Barton Hill, the Dings was once one of the worst slums in Bristol – photo: Martin Booth
“The Dings is a fiercely proud neighbourhood. Residential streets meets gritty industrialism, with the nicest people you could wish to meet on both sides. Quench your thirst after stamping these history-rich streets with a well deserved pint in the Barley Mow. (Rumour has it there’s a cider tap room worth checking too.)
Blind Owl Coffee

“Coffee roasting nerds on the Feeder Road Rivera. Blind Owl Coffee is ace. Their coffee is to die for, and they even sell the bits and bobs so you can make a decent cup or two of it at home. Definitely worth the wander!”
