My Bristol Favourites: Emily Fletcher
Emily Fletcher is co-founder of Polar Pops, a Bristol-based company producing handmade natural ice lollies in Spike Island from real fruit and veg and all about making healthy eating fun and accessible.
Here are Emily’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Victoria Park
is needed now More than ever
“Being near green spaces is important to me and it was this park that drew me to my house in the area. I love the park for its views, friendly people and the great coffee and egg bap from Mrs Brown’s Cafe. The park is also near the lovely Windmill Hill City Farm, which is a little oasis in the city. It’s great for children to have access to farm animals and gain an understanding of how food is grown. It also has a lovely café which uses the farm’s produce and supports local businesses.”
Upfest
“Bristol is bursting with creativity and Upfest is simply buzzing. So great to see art happening en masse with opportunities for children to get involved too. One of my favourite pieces this year was the portrait by Jody on North Street – beautiful.”
Hart’s Bakery
“With amazing freshly baked food, Hart’s Bakery is a real gem. My favourite is their delicious vegetarian pasty and a good Americano. They have also just created a new, exciting continental inspired food market, The Sunday Project, supporting local and independent traders in and around the bakery taking place for the first time between 10am and 3pm on Sunday, September 11.”
St George’s
“Being able to walk into the city centre and see a variety of live world music in St George’s just off Park Street is pretty amazing.”
Leigh Woods
“Leigh Woods is great for escaping the busy city sounds, making dens with my children and Sunday strolls.”
