My Bristol Favourites: Hazel Hayden
Hazel Hayden is the founder of the Independent Health & Wellbeing Group.
Inspired by personal difficulties with her own pregnancy as well as her experience on the frontline of the NHS, Hazel is on a mission to close the gaps in women’s health education and support.
Hazel is soon hosting a free event on menopause in the workplace, with statistics showing that three in five menopausal women face difficulties every day at work.

Clifton Village

“I lived near Clifton Village for my first five years in Bristol and I love Saturday mornings mooching around Clifton looking at all the independent shops and buying bits and pieces at the vintage and second-hand shops.”
Saffron

“Saffron on Boyce’s Avenue in Clifton Village is my go-to place for lunch. They do wonderful mezzo plates such as lamb koftas which all come with flatbread and side dips. They never fail to hit the spot.”
Tobacco Factory Market

“North Street, East Street and West Street are all great to wander along with all their independent shops and second-hand furniture stores. We often visit the Tobacco Factory Market on a Sunday morning. It is the place to get fantastic coffee and great gifts.”
Escala

“Escala in Clevedon is a wonderful tapas bar whose tapas is as good as any I have eaten in Spain. The service is wonderful and it overlooks the beach. A perfect spot with fantastic food.”
Murrays

The deli shelves at Murrays are filled to the brim with independent Italian suppliers – photo: Murrays
“Murrays is a family-run Italian deli and restaurant in Clevedon. They have wonderful outside space but it is their food that is sublime and if I’m not in Clifton Village on a Saturday morning, we will be strolling along Hill Road, which has more great independent shops, and then lunch at Murrays with a cheeky limoncello spritzer.”
