Licata’s

“C & T Licata & Son, a family run Italian delicatessen on Picton Street in Montpelier, is simple and honest. It’s how they have been doing it for years without feeling the need to change. You might as well be stepping into a Piedmont sleepy Italian shop in a sleepy Piedmont village. I hope it never changes.”
The Nova Scotia

“The Nova Scotia in Hotwells is a real pub, unpretentious and full of real genuine locals. The private bar: for those who know. It’s a great place for a good pint of Guinness.”
Idle Hands

Idle Hands moved from its original location on Stokes Croft to nearby City Road in 2017 – photo: Martin Booth
“Idle Hands is an independent record shop on City Road in St Paul’s which specialises in all forms of underground electronic music. It’s run by my friend Chris Farrell, who cut his teeth in the institution that was Rooted Records on Gloucester Road.”
Blues

“A family run independent clothes shop and lifestyle store, Blues on Broad Street specialises in well made, well sourced independent brands.”
Cave

“For anyone who leans to the natural side of the vine, check out Cave on Gloucester Road. There is always a solid selection and they do a great home delivery service.”
