My Bristol Favourites: James Bracey
Gloucestershire Cricket wicketkeeper-batsman James Bracey is vice-captain of the team’s four-day squad this season, which starts against Surrey on April 8.
The 23-year-old, who grew up playing for Winterbourne CC, has recently agreed a new contract at the County Ground, seeing him remain at the club until the end of the 2023 season.
He only managed to play once for Glos last season due to his England Test squad commitments.

These are James’ top-five Bristol favourites:
The Memorial Stadium

“I’ve had a lot of happy and not so happy memories at the Memorial Stadium. Growing up it was good to watch Rovers. I’m still a big fan. It’s always nice to go back there and I’m looking forward to when fans are allowed back in. My dad is a mad Rovers fan and so is my brother, so we used to go most weeks, home and away as well.”
Wapping Wharf

“I love going down to Wapping Wharf and the harbourside. I love my food. Calypso Kitchen is a great place for their Caribbean food and I love Pigsty as well. Me and Hammo (Gloucestershire batsman Miles Hammond) love to go down there.”
The Downs

“The Downs is always good for us. I used to always go up to play football when I was younger and I did a little bit of refereeing when I grew up. I still love to go up there now. It’s more of a social spot, especially with Covid. It’s nice to meet the odd person up there. There’s obviously so much space.”
Ashton Court

“I’m a keen runner and there are some nice running routes here. I haven’t got a dog but my brother has so when I can get hold of a dog it’s always nice to take him up there as well. It’s nice to have those sort of areas in and around Bristol.”
King Street

Outdoor eating and drinking on King Street will resume on April 12 – photo: Martin Booth
“There are some really good drinking spots on King Street, especially when the weather is nice. It’s always a good vibe. The Brewhouse and the Apple are pretty good, but there are so many good places down there it doesn’t matter.”
