Here are Jane’s top-five Bristol favourites:
is needed now More than ever
The harbourside
“The harbourside has always been one of my favourite places in Bristol. Growing up I always wanted to live by water so when I moved to Bristol 13 years ago, I instantly fell in love with the waterfront and have never lost that feeling. Whether you fancy a peaceful stroll, listening to the tinkering sounds of the bobbing boats, or fancy joining in with one of the many buzzing festivals, food events or boat races, there is always something happening.”
Bristol’s green areas
“Bristol is such a green city with so many amazing pockets of nature to explore. I love taking our dog Arnie for a walk in our local park Greville Smyth or up to the Downs. We are really spoilt for options though including Leigh Woods, Ashton Court, St Andrew’s Park and Victoria Park.”
Bristol’s independent spirit
“Bristol always seems so open and supportive of independent businesses and start-ups. There is a strong community feel and a sense that people really get behind something. Some of my favourites are Clifton Rocks, Papersmiths, Lionheart magazine, The Forge, Tincan Coffee Co. and Soma Gallery.”
St George’s
“St George’s is a stunning grade II listed building in the heart of Bristol, tucked just off Park Street and located next to the beautiful Brandon Hill. It was the location for our wedding last year and will therefore always have a special place in our hearts.”
The cycling community
“I love seeing people of all ages cycling and tootling about on their bikes. It is such a great way to get around and makes Bristol cleaner and greener. When I see rows and rows of bikes locked up it reminds me of the streets of Amsterdam.”
