Theses are Jasmine’s top-five Bristol favourites:
The Green Man

“The Green Man in Kingsdown is the best Dawkins pub in Bristol; hands down. I spent a lot of my teenage years in old pubs along the Thames in London and this is the only one in Bristol that makes me feel all nostalgic. It’s not too big and the regulars always have the best stories to share. Bristol brewers and distillers tend to head here for a pint and a chat, and if you’re lucky the landlord will talk you through his Lego figurine collection behind the bar.”
The Jam Jar
“Before the pandemic, The Jam Jar in St Jude’s was a place to go if you felt like jumping on the mic or bringing an instrument to jam into the early hours with new people and with some of Bristol’s well-known musicians. The most welcoming space to hear bands and always has a mega lineup of interesting music. I’ve spent a lot of my weekends here singing for hours until I lost my voice.”
Ujima Radio

“There’s tonnes of amazing community radio stations in the city but Ujima Radio has a special place in my heart. Dedicated to Bristol’s Black community, they’ve had so many talented people walk through their doors and go on to to do great things.”
The mound

“If you explore the area around the mound you’ll find some great places to forage, even for things like plums (if you look hard enough). It’s tucked away in St Werburgh’s but when you get to the top there’s beautiful views of the city. Also the place to go on snow day for a good hill to slide down!”
Trenchard Street car park

“Roller-skating has made a big comeback all across the world and here in Bristol. You don’t have to go far to find a fellow skaters on the streets and Bump Rollerdisco is the best, but my favourite place to go roller-skate is Trenchard Street car park right on the top floor as the sun is going down on a warm day. There’s no cars around and you feel like you’re skating over the city.”
