My Bristol Favourites: Jess Brown and Dan Wride

By Martin Booth  Sunday Apr 12, 2020

Jess Brown is the head coach at F45 Bristol Central on All Saints’ Street in the city centre and her partner Dan Wride is an associate director at Paragon Building Consultancy at Desklodge House on Victoria Street.

Jess and Dan moved back to Bristol just over a year ago from London and now live together in Redland.

“We love the city vibes Bristol brings without the daily personal space invasion of the tube,” they said.

Here are their top-five Bristol favourites:

Fancy Plants

“We have a real problem when it comes to house plants, especially cacti. We just love them! Walking into Fancy Plants on Perry Road is a dream come true. There’s every plant you could dream of and the staff are equally as (if not a bit more!) bonkers about our small green friends as us.”

Bristol Bears

“As season ticket holders, our weekend plans always revolve around the rugby schedule. The atmosphere in Ashton Gate Stadium is electric and, win or lose, the boys are a joy to support.”

Chandos Road

“When we left London we absolutely landed on our feet restaurant-wise. Chandos Road in Redland is just round the corner from us and we are absolutely spoilt for choice! Our favourite date spot is Snobby’s. We love that it doesn’t have a wine list – it has a wine person (fancy!).”

The Kensington Arms

“Our local, the Kenny, has been propping us up for over a year now and we wouldn’t go anywhere else. I won’t lie, we mostly go there to pet other people’s dogs and order a sneaky pint while waiting for our Deliveroo to arrive – it’s all about balance, right?”

St Nick’s Market

“F45 is right in the middle of town, so I’m always on the hunt for city centre lunchtime spots. Luckily, I don’t have to look too far. St Nick’s Market is just around the corner and offers an incredible selection of foodie treats. From gyoza to a falafel, I can always find something I’m in the mood for there.”
