My Bristol Favourites: Maisie Williams

By Bristol24/7  Friday Sep 30, 2016

Maisie Williams, best known for playing Ayra Stark in smash HBO drama Game of Thrones, visited St Bonaventure’s Catholic Primary School in Bishopston this week to run a workshop for children on recognising abuse. She later attended a ball to help raise money for the NSPCC.

Nineteen-year-old Williams was born in Bristol and grew up in Clutton. She made her professional acting debut in Game of Thrones – in which she was nominated for an Emmy earlier this year – and has since appeared in Doctor Who and critically-acclaimed film The Falling.

Here are Maisie’s top-five Bristol favourites:

Festivals

The Arcadia Afterburner at Love Saves The Day 2016

“I love small Bristol festivals like Love Saves The Day and Tokyo World. It’s amazing how they support all these great local businesses and acts. I love that it’s such a community here.”

Stokes Croft

“You can always rely on Stokes Croft to pull up a good night out,” says Maisie Williams

“I really like going out in Stokes Croft. You can always rely on it to pull up a good night out.”

Biblos

Biblos at Dismaland

“When I was at Tokyo World I found the Biblos stand and loved it. Now I’ve discovered that they have restaurants too. They’re amazing.”

Story Slam: Bristol

James Williams at September’s Story Slam in the Wardrobe Theatre – with live BSL interpretation by Liana Tree Lloyd

“My brother James does Story Slam at the Old Market Assembly and I love being able to support him.”

Bristol’s scene

“I love that Bristol always has new and exciting things popping up all over town. Even if I can’t go, I like to tweet about them to try and get more people going.”
