My Bristol Favourites: Miltos Yerolemou
Miltos Yerolemou is appearing in The Snow Queen at Bristol Old Vic until January 15. Best known for playing sword fighting teacher Syrio Forel in Game Of Thrones, he is also well remembered by Old Vic audiences for his role as Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2013.
Here are Miltos’ top-five Bristol favourites:
Flour & Ash
is needed now More than ever
“Flour & Ash is my favourite place to hang out in the Gloucester Road area, with ridiculously good pizzas. It’s got the kind of vibe about the place which I think that Bristol is all about, independent and idiosyncratic.”
Redland Green
“I live opposite and take my sausage dog Louis walking here twice a day. It’s a beautiful little park which has sort of become my back garden as I don’t have one. Anyone who uses it needs to speak to me first!”
Music scene
“I went to a gig at the Thekla before I did anything else in Bristol, when I was still a student. When I first came to Bristol to live, I stayed on a friend’s barge and it was moored next to the Thekla. I remember on Friday and Saturday nights having my own party on my own little boat because of the noise, but that time has very fond memories.”
Whiteladies Road
“Whiteladies Road used to be the place where teenagers went to get pissed. Its radical transformation means that it’s now got posh furniture shops and an amazing Everyman cinema – a really lovely venue and my go-to place for movies.”
Under The Stars
“We had a party at Under The Stars after A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which was the first play I did for the Bristol Old Vic. During the summer it’s one of my favourite places to go and have a drink, and take in the genteel vibes of the harbourside. I say genteel, it depends on what night you’re there to be honest. Some of the bar staff here also have the most amazing piercings I have ever seen.”
