My Bristol Favourites: Naomi Miller

By Bristol24/7  Friday Nov 2, 2018

Naomi Miller is the new deputy director of Bristol Cultural Development Partnership. In this new role, she will be working on the full range of BCDP projects including the Bristol Festival of Ideas and Festival of the Future City.

These are Naomi’s top-five Bristol favourites:

Hart’s Bakery

“Living in Bath and working in Bristol, I have to battle with the temptation of Hart’s Bakery on a daily basis! I love introducing this hidden gem to people or treating myself when I have an extra bit of time. I recently experienced their mac’n’cheese pasty which was incredible and their vegetarian sausage rolls are delicious! Otherwise, you’ll often find me enjoying a flat white and a Bertinet’s apricot Danish at Society Cafe on the harbourside.”

Sacred sites

Bristol Cathedral

“Having worked at Bristol Cathedral for the past five years, I’m slightly biased towards sacred places. They bring me such calm and a clear headspace, which I often need when running around. Other than the cathedral, which has a very special place in my heart, Arnos Vale Cemetery and The New Room are two of my favourite places to pause, walk or sit with a coffee.”

Theatre

Bristol Old Vic

“We are so lucky to have such great theatre on our doorstep in Bristol, and all of them have such distinctive characters and vibes. Bristol Old Vic is absolutely beautiful, and I can’t wait to experience their new building; Tobacco Factory Theatres has such a warm sense of community to it and the Wardrobe Theatre is programming some amazing shows in a fantastic intimate space.”

The Floating Harbour

The Floating Harbour

“There are few better ways to enjoy the city than by being on or by the Floating Harbour. Getting the ferry is such a lovely way to travel around. And enjoying the sights of the water at Wapping Wharf, with its amazing selection of delicious offerings, is the perfect way to spend time with friends.”

Books

Bristol Central Library

“I am a book addict and Bristol really helps to fuel this. Central Library is such a great resource. The Reference Library is so special and there are loads of interesting events. The authors and speakers at Festival of Ideas events are of such amazing calibre and I’ve enjoyed lots of them over the past five years. I can’t wait to be part of the team bringing them to the city.”
