My Bristol Favourites: Owen Morgan
Along with his brother and sister, Owen Morgan has recently opened Bar 44 restaurant and tapas bar on Regent Street in Clifton Village.
Earlier this year, Owen – who used to live in Bristol before co-founding his Spanish-led restaurant group in Cardiff – was named the Imbibe Restaurant Personality of the Year. He is also a certified sherry educator.
These are Owen’s top-five Bristol favourites:
is needed now More than ever
Clifton Suspension Bridge
“The bridge is so iconic and personally so nostalgic for me. If brings back a lot of memories from living here in Bristol. Whether it be running over the bridge daily, having drinks overlooking it, or taking walks with friends and having one of the UK’s most incredible views. It’s one of the most special places in the country!”
Boyce’s Avenue, Clifton Village
“This little road has such a great café culture vibe, especially when the weather is good and everyone is sitting outside. Great cafes, small independent shops, a bakery, pubs, an amazing fruit and veg shop, and right next to Victoria Square. Just a great place to be with a community mingling.”
Stokes Croft
“Stokes Croft has a completely different vibe and feel to Clifton Village, but you can’t help feel the creativity of people when you’re down there. From the eateries to the art, music and culture, it’s an infectious place to be and hang out in.”
Whiteladies Road
“Just to bring back memories of a good old fashioned bar crawl! It keeps changing over the years, but is still great fun with friends.”
Regent Street, Clifton Village
“Because I’m practically living here now, and it has Bristol’s most awesome new bar and restaurant! Tongue firmly in cheek, as of course I would say that. It’s pretty awesome though, as are the team at Bar 44.”
