My Bristol Favourites: Pete Snowman

By Bristol24/7  Thursday Jun 9, 2016

Pete Snowman is owner of Bristol Cider Shop, now going strong in its new home in Cargo at Wapping Wharf with cider tastings every Friday evening after work, more events planned and mulled cider now available as the nights draw in.

Here are Pete’s top-five Bristol favourites:

Balloons over Totterdown

“Balloons are an obvious symbol of Bristol but we’re really lucky in Totterdown because they come right over our heads! When the wind’s going the right way, you can be sitting in the garden having a barbecue and one will appear silently overhead – so close that you can talk to the people in the basket. Magic!”

Sunshine pints by the harbourside

“This is another one that’s a bit predictable but it’s the first thing I think of when I think of Bristol. I love wandering around the harbour in the sunshine, stopping off for pints outside the Arnolfini, watching the boats go by and just soaking up the party atmosphere. You can’t beat it.”

Christmas Steps

“I can’t pick my Bristol favourites without including Christmas Steps. It was one of the first places I visited when I came to Bristol 10 years ago and I fell in love with it immediately. I feel very lucky to have been a part of it, and I miss the amazing people that live and work there now that we’ve moved.”

National Cycle Network

“Okay, this one’s a bit random because most of it’s not actually in Bristol. But the National Cycle Network was set up by Sustrans, which is! I love the cycling culture in Bristol and I’ve spent so many awesome weekends cycling around the countryside on national cycle routes – it really is an amazing resource. Thanks, Sustrans!”

Street parties

“I love the fact that Bristol is the street party capital of the UK! There are some fantastic citywide events but the thing that I love most about Bristol is the incredible sense of community – and that shines through in the dozens of local community events and street parties that happen every year.”
