My Bristol Favourites: Sian Evans
During nearly two decades writing and performing with Kosheen, frontwoman Sian Evans made a name for herself as a songwriter and a featured vocalist.

Here are Sian’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Ashton Court
“My dog Lyra and I kick the leaves through the woodland on the boundaries of the estate, cross the golf course, and tumble down the hill to the refectory for a steaming hot chocolate and an almond slice! We have occasionally caught sight of rutting stags in the enclosure under the canopy of autumnal ancient oaks, bumping into dog walkers and polite mountain bikers. When you work a lot at home it makes all the difference to have a chat about dogs or leaves or anything really. It’s also spectacular this time of year, not to be missed.”
Conham River Park
The Old Lock & Weir is a fine reward after a stroll along the Conham River Path
“Following the River Avon, tucked in behind Barton Hill and St George, is a gem of a walk. In the summer you could be in the south of France, watching kingfishers and dragonfly dancing on the water. Hitch a ride from Beese’s ferry boat across the river for a cream tea in their beautiful country garden. Lyra and I have swum in the river together as narrow boats and kayaks glide gently past. Continue to the Old Lock & Weir during autumn for a warm welcome, a jacket spud and a pint of Thatchers to take the chill off.”
Snuff Mills cafe
“The kiosk can be found in the car park. Always friendly, up for a chat, and the best tuna sandwich and mug of tea in the world!”
St Nick’s Market

“I just love it here, especially with the Christmas lights. St Nick’s seems to transport me back in time or into a Dickensian novel. The cobbled streets, the smell of the food stalls, and the hustle and bustle give me a warm Christmassy glow!”
The Farm
“I have always popped into the Farm in St Werburgh’s for a pint and a catch-up on local gossip! There has been a succession of managers and staff, but Clair now has the place buzzing with life and hospitality. There is always something going on, but for me it’s the welcome and the amazing Sunday dinner that has my heart. The finest sticky toffee pudding I have ever tasted (sorry, mum!). I am falling in love again with Bristol, a city that first had my heart 25 year ago. It’s wonderful to rediscover and also great to know that somethings didn’t need to change.”
