My Bristol Favourites: Tara Miran
The co-founder of St Paul’s Community Garden, Tara Miran recently featured as part of a campaign celebrating Bristol’s unsung heroes.
Launched by Global Goals Centre, the project celebrated individuals across the city for their work to tackle poverty, inequality and climate change.
Tara’s portrait was one of 17 that starred on billboards across the city for her work to fight for gender equality.

She has also been recognised nationally for her inspiring work and features in One Hundred Reasons To Hope, an illustrated storybook compiled with the blessing of Captain Sir Tom Moore before his death, with an introduction by his daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore.

Tara works in areas focused on race equality, community development and women’s voices and recently opened The Green Melon plastic-free fruit and veg shop in St Paul’s along with her husband, John Aguirre.

Whilst our children play and explore the brilliant playground rebuild, we are left to relax, talk and enjoy a cuppa or some food together. There is also a Bike Exchange which offers children’s and adults bikes for sale and servicing.”

“A series of murals in St Paul’s that use art, food, green spaces and culture to connect us as a community. Walk or bike through the green spaces and take a photograph of the three recipe murals and enjoy exploring and cooking these Kurdish, Somali and African and Caribbean recipes.”
