My Bristol Favourites: Zara Narracott
Zara Narracott is the owner of Zara’s Chocolates on North Street. Zara is taking part in a mini food festival on Whiteladies Road on Thursday, Friday and Saturday next week organised by Kitchens.
Here are Zara’s top-five Bristol favourites:
North Street
“Full of vibrant independent businesses and friendly, loyal customers, I love being a part of the North Street community. It’s amazing seeing how this area has grown and improved in just the four years since I have lived and worked here, and how much great, award-winning food is now being produced, enjoyed and shared. The local community are so passionate about the area, and are really keen to support the growing range of local businesses. It’s so nice to feel so welcomed by customers!”

Great food
“Wherever you head in Bristol, you will not be short of choices for a seriously great bakery, deli, breakfast or meal. In fact, there is so much great food here in both permanent residences, and in the abundance of pop-ups, markets and food festivals around the city, that you could spend days food-hopping and still miss some hidden gems!”
A beautiful city
“I love that wherever you go in Bristol, there is so much beauty to be found. Whether it’s incredible street art, a gorgeous view of colourful houses, the beauty of the Avon Gorge and Suspension Bridge, hot air balloons filling the sky, the harbourside full of boats, or the amazingly large, green Downs. If you take a second to look around, there is so much beauty to appreciate in Bristol.”
Creativity
“It’s hard to miss the amount of local creativity abundant in the city, from small-scale theatre venues and productions, to creative cooperatives setting up shops and shows, to incredible street art altering the streets into places of beauty. There is far too much creativity to mention everything here, but a couple of favourites are the new fashion and arts cooperative Where’s Your Mary? and the lovely cooperative shop Paper Plane on Gloucester Road.”
Ivory Flowers
“This may be a little biased, as I do share a shop with Ivory Flowers, but I loved them long before we decided to join forces. Meeting at the Tobacco Factory market I quickly fell in love with their beautiful, but casual style of flowers. They would always be my first port of call for any bouquets, little posies, or wedding corsages. Being at similar stages in our businesses, and with similar wants, Xanthe and I decided to take the plunge in opening up a shop together, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice of partner!”
