Social Impact / bristol homeless action week
Bristol Homeless Action Week begins
Bristol Homeless Action Week takes place from May 13 to May 19. It’s a chance to celebrate and support volunteers and organisations who work with the city’s homeless community and to empower the public to get involved to make a change.
With homelessness ever-growing, Bristol Homeless Forum, the organisers of the event, are encouraging more creative approaches to the crisis.
Each day, The Kitchen in The Station will host Charity Sofa Drop-In Sessions, welcoming people to find out more about getting involved in Bristol’s homeless community. An opportunity to grab a cup of coffee and get reliable advice on campaigning, volunteering and raising awareness and organisations such as Bristol City Council, St Mungo’s and One25 are getting involved.
is needed now More than ever

Members of Julian Trust offer volunteering insight
The week is also an opportunity to view Volunteers, a photography exhibition created by local man Ken Abbott, in the Kitchen’s cafe. The exhibition focuses on volunteers who give their time to help the homeless population in Bristol.
Also in the cafe is the Artwork Exhibition, displaying art by individuals with personal experience of homelessness. A collaboration between UWE Bristol, 1624 Independent People and Emmaus Bristol, the work is a range of painting, poems and collages.

Entry is free to all events, and work in the Artwork Exhibition is also for sale, with all profits going to the original artists.
