Bristol’s alliance advocating for use of SDGs
Ahead of the Cop26 conference in Glasgow, Bristol has seen a buzz around the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) this summer in Bristol.
There have been art installations and murals across the city for the Vanguard x Toward 2030 campaign, as well as the #Bristol17 campaign by the Global Goals centre in collaboration with Bristol24/7.
The Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
is needed now More than ever
In Bristol, we have the Bristol SDG Alliance, which is a group of interested stakeholders from across Bristol who have come together to advocate for the use of the SDGs to create a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable city and region.

Bristol has undertaken a whole-city approach to delivering the SDGs; the aspirations and visions in its One City Plan have been mapped against them. Whilst grappling with pressing local, national and global challenges, the SDGs can provide a common language to describe the issues and solutions we’re finding.
The Alliance was an informal network in late 2015 and was initially coordinated by the Bristol Green Capital Partnership. It is a hub for SDG activity in Bristol and provides a focal point for those interested in engaging and connecting with a network of city stakeholders.

The alliance hopes to increase awareness of the SDGs and share best practice, information and activities, drive the policy framework for long-term sustainable development of Bristol and the region, and link city and region community-level action to global and national challenges.
If you think you would like to join the Bristol Alliance, you can send an email to SDGAllianceBristol@gmail.com. It is free to join and involves as much or as little commitment from members as they wish.
