‘It is so important to bridge the gap between the safety of school and the wider world’
Three Ways School head of food technology Rosalie Forde beams when talking about one of her students ahead of Friday’s Summer Feast at The Station in partnership with Square Food Foundation and Bristol Food Connections.
“To see Josh work so capably and confidently has been wonderful,” says Rosalie. “The Autumn Feast and young chefs programme gave Josh the opportunity to meet many inspiring professionals from the cities food industry.
“He could observe food careers in a variety of settings and meet new people whilst being supported throughout the process by the wonderful team at Square Food Foundation.
is needed now More than ever
“This is why their work and that of the School of Food is so important in bridging the sometimes-intimidating gap between the safety of school and the wider world.
“As UWE Bristol’s professor Jane Roscoe highlighted, it’s so important that events like the Autumn Feast create long-needed opportunities. We have many talented young people who don’t know about all the different careers in the food industry – an industry that is crying out for fresh talent. If we’re going to engage and inspire the next generation and retain them in a bright and promising career, it’s through exciting, real and meaningful opportunities like this.
“To see Josh work so capably, confidently and people remark on his professional ability has been wonderful and I am very proud of his achievements. Thank you so much to everyone involved and please keep supporting food curriculums in schools and vital projects like this.
“We really believe in enriching our students’ education with opportunities like this and I think the results speak for themselves. Josh is definitely one to watch.”
