Mothers for Mothers to carry out 40km fundraising walk around Bristol
It has been a year of celebrations for the Bristol-based charity, Mothers for Mothers.
This year, the organisation that supports vulnerable women and families in the city, has celebrated their 40th anniversary as well as receiving the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
After a successful year, 40 volunteers have pledged to continue their support by organising a 40km walk around Bristol to raise funds for the charity.
is needed now More than ever
The walk will take place on June 12 and has a target fundraising goal of £10,000.
“Our walk starts at College Green, we’ll be circumnavigating The Downs, crossing the Suspension
Bridge, around Ashton Court, back to the city centre then heading south of the river through Arnos
Vale and Knowle,” said volunteer walk coordinator, Susannah Cake.
“The last leg will be from Temple Gate, over Bristol Bridge and around the harbour and then back to our starting point. We’re covering a large patch where women supported by Mothers for Mothers live and we’ll be seeing loads of cool Bristol sights.”
“Come cheer us on to keep our morale up, or get involved in one of the legs, we’d love to have more walkers on board!”
Abi Perrett will be taking part in the charity walk and hopes to raise money for Mothers for Mothers after using their services on becoming a mother.
“Mothers for Mothers’ was there for me when I needed help following the birth of my 4th child and taking part in the walk is symbolic of my own journey to physical and emotional recovery,” said Abi.
“Going to the support group helped me to enjoy my pregnancy and reduced my anxiety towards my other children. Even though it will be hard work, I want to help raise money so other families can benefit from help in their difficult time”.
You can support the efforts of Abi and the team of walkers by donating to their Local Giving page, here.
