What’s happening with Better Bristol? – March 2021

By Caitlin Bowring  Monday Mar 1, 2021

Every month the Bristol24/7 magazine has three words written under our logo – Bringing Bristol Together.

In May 2020 we had to stop publishing the free magazine for the first time in five years. Our team was devastated, but we chose to see it as an opportunity. We shifted our focus to tell more local stories than ever through projects such as 12 Communities 1 Bristol, our Community Reporters project, and we launched the Queer Catch Up podcast.

Now, as we approach a year in lockdown, we wanted to find another way that we could bring together the people that have supported us through it.

Independent journalism
is needed now More than ever
Keep our city's journalism independent. Become a supporter member today.

That’s why we’ve launched the Bringing Bristol Together campaign. In a year where getting together has been physically impossible, our team decided to share with each other the activities that have kept us going.

From wipe-outs to hula hooping, the videos made us smile so much we decided to put them together, and then we thought – why not get everyone in Bristol sharing their moments too?

All you have to do is send us your 15-30 second video clips and we’ll put them in a film so that everyone can come together, even if it’s just for 5 minutes, to celebrate our city and share the moments that are keeping Bristol’s spirits up and making us smile.

We hope the campaign will reach all our readers and members, like you, who have continued to support us so we can say thank you by bringing some happiness and joy to people.

Bringing Bristol Together – how to get involved

1. Film a 15-30 second video on your phone of one thing that’s got you through lockdown. If you’d like to share a few clips you can, up to three maximum please.

2. Film in landscape if you can. We will accept portrait videos if you want to share a video you already have that you think fits the brief.

3. Please include yourself or your face / faces of your friends or family in the video if possible.

4. Clips will be put to music – so no need to worry about the sound!

5. Send your video clips to hannah@bristol247.com by Friday March 5th 2021. Put ‘Bringing Bristol Together’ in the subject line and include the names of anyone in your film, ages, and the area in Bristol you live/are from.

Please only send videos up to 30 seconds. If your file is too big to send by email you can send for free using WeTransfer.
