‘Please come down and share in the festive spirit with us’
In professional sport, Christmas can pass by in the blink of an eye.
When everybody else is tucking into their turkey, we’re likely to be found on the training paddock. That’s why, when the opportunity arises for a day or two off during December, players know to make the most of it.
As a team at Bristol Bears, we’ll dust off our Christmas jumpers, have dinner together and partake in the annual tradition of Secret Santa. I’ve seen all manner of gifts during my time in professional sport, from blow-up dolls to live chickens!

My wife Adèle and I love how Bristol embraces the festive season. There are plenty of community-based events and activities to remind us how important the community is to Bristolians, and we try to experience as many of them as possible.
Whether it’s a Christmas market or an independent pop-up, shopping locally is not only a great way to keep money within the community, but you also find products that are unique and special to Bristol.
At Burra, we’re continuing to strive towards our vision this Christmas: bringing the community together and inspiring sustainable thinking through positive change.

We are currently working with Lamina Pop, a sustainability project that build houses for families in the Guatemalan coffee industry.
Coffee is a huge part of many people’s lives, and it’s important that we help those who grow it have better lives too.
We’re also excited to bring the very first Christmas Street Party to Lower Redland Road! We’ve partnered with Wild Oats and the Bristol Artisan to showcase the power of independent businesses with a free celebration of food, drinks and festive activities.
Please come down and share in the festive spirit with us on Thursday, December 15 from 6pm to 9pm.
