Lisa Knights named new Bristol Flyers CEO
Former international water polo player Lisa Knights has been appointed as the new chief exec of Bristol Flyers.
Knights was a presenter on Sky, ITV and Setanta before joining Bristol Sport as chief of communications in 2014.
She has been a Flyers board member since 2018 and has sat on the British Basketball League board of directors since 2022.
is needed now More than ever
Knights’ appoitment comes the day after Bristol City announced that it would not be directly replacing the role of CEO previously held by Phil Alexander.
It also comes as the Ashton Gate Sporting Quarter is reported to have been put on hold as waste management firm ETM has started legal proceedings against the city council.
A 3,626-seater sports and convention centre next door to Ashton Gate Stadium is part of the plans for the Sporting Quarter, with this arena due to be the permanent home of the Flyers, who currently play their games at SGS College in Filton.

“It’s a real honour to be offered this role especially at such an important time in Flyers’ history,” Knights said.
“With the new campaign just underway, our first season playing in Europe, combined with the prospect of a new home at Ashton Gate, it is a tremendously exciting time for not just the club but basketball in the UK.
“There is huge opportunity for growth of the sport and the positive impact it has on our community.
“I’ve worked with coach Kapoulas and Flyers chairman Mike Beesley for almost a decade and really looking forward to supporting them and the whole Flyers family as we drive the club forward together.
“I cannot wait to see what we can achieve.”
Bristol Sport group CEO Gavin Marshall added: “Lisa has been a tremendous advocate for Bristol Flyers and British basketball for a number of years and is the perfect person to lead the Flyers through this very exciting period.”
