Decision day for cricket floodlight plan
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club claims there will be no more international cricket in Bristol unless it gets the go ahead for floodlights.
Bristol City Council planning officers have recommended the proposed floodlights for approval at a meeting on Wednesday.
Local residents claim the floodlights could be designed to be less obtrusive and will lead to substantial light pollution.

A decision was deferred by the council in February to give the cricket club time to look at the plans and consult further with the community.
The council also wanted further information on the different types of floodlights that have been considered and the club says it has reviewed the original plans.
Will Brown, chief executive of Gloucestershire, said: “We want to bring international sport into the heart of Bristol and approving this application is the only way it can happen.”
The club claims four Cricket World Cup games in 2019 would be lost without permanent floodlights and the design they have submitted is the only one approved by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
