England captain Heather Knight immortalised in new artwork at County Ground

By Martin Booth  Monday Mar 8, 2021

Heather Knight is among the latest cricketers painted on the walls of the Bristol County Ground.

The England captain has been immortalised in spray paint by graffiti artist Silent Hobo to celebrate both International Women’s Day and Western Storm.

Western Storm played all of their Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Trophy matches at the ground in 2020, with Knight also a former Gloucestershire Women player.

Knight said: “It is great to see Gloucestershire Cricket welcoming Western Storm in Bristol. We all feel part of the club and its history.

“The additions of the Western Storm team look very cool and we can’t wait to play in front of our supporters at the County Ground.”

Regional director of women’s cricket, Lisa Pagett, said: “It is fantastic to see the inclusion of Heather and the Western Storm team as part of the street art at the Bristol County Ground.

“Everyone at Gloucestershire Cricket has been welcoming and supportive of the Western Storm team and this is an extension of that.

“Every Storm fan that will now visit the ground will see their heroes on the wall and hopefully this is something that female stars of the future can aspire to be a part of.”
