Gloucestershire ‘to review and reset’ as Benkenstein departs
Gloucestershire Cricket head coach Dale Benkenstein has left the club to join Lancashire as their new men’s head coach.
The South African, who joined Gloucestershire in November 2021, was in charge of a very disappointing season this year.
On the same day that Benkenstein’s departure was confirmed, Shire batting all-rounder Ollie Price – the star performer last season – was named in the England Lions squad for the upcoming tour of India.
is needed now More than ever
Gloucestershire chief executive, Will Brown, said that Benkenstein “worked hard throughout a challenging couple of years to create a new structure within the cricket department and to develop our squad of talented players”.
Brown said: “With Dale’s departure we will now start the process of recruiting for a head coach; allowing us to review and reset the requirements of the club moving into the new year.
“Everyone at Gloucestershire would like to thank Dale for his efforts in the role and wish him well for the future. The recruitment process for a replacement head coach will start immediately.”
