Bristol City sell defender for club record £13m
Bristol City now have a summer war chest to spend on new players after receiving a club record sum for a homegrown young talent.
Following interest from Liverpool and Arsenal, England Under-21 defender Lloyd Kelly has signed for Bournemouth for £13m.
“Premier League football is what I’ve always wanted to achieve,” said 20-year-old Kelly. “I want to play as many games as possible and I feel like this is the best place to do that.”

Kelly, a left-sided defender who is comfortable at either full-back or centre-half, came through the ranks at Ashton Gate before making his first team debut in August 2017.
He made 48 appearances for City, scoring two goals, and has three caps for the Young Lions since his bow last November.
Robins head coach Lee Johnson said: “Lloyd has been a pleasure to work with. I’ve very much enjoyed watching his journey from the Academy to the first team, to playing for England Under-21s, training with England’s first team and now his Premier League move.
“We wish him all the very best at Bournemouth and he will always be welcome back at Ashton Gate.”
AFC Bournemouth manager, Eddie Howe, added: “Lloyd is an exciting talent and a player of real potential, while at the same time already possessing good experience for someone so young.
“He is athletic, versatile, physically excellent and has a very bright future ahead of him.”
