Bristol City win promotion to Women’s Super League
Bristol City have returned to the top flight of English women’s football following a 4-0 win against Charlton at Ashton Gate that clinched the Championship title.
Playing in front a record 7,045-strong, goals from Grace Clinton, Abi Harrison, Brooke Aspin and Ffion Morgan saw the Vixens win the league with one game remaining.
Next season in the WSL, Ashton Gate will become the primary home venue for Lauren Smith’s side who have played their home games this season at the Robins High Performance Centre in Failand.
is needed now More than ever
“We knew that we were ambitious this year and without saying it, this is what we wanted all along,” said Smith.
“I absolutely knew that we had the club, the staff and the players to achieve it.”

After playing in her 100th game for City, Harrison said she was “absolutely delighted”, especially after being one of only two players who had experienced relegation with City from the WSL in 2021.
“We went through so much. We were given challenge after challenge especially the first half of the season. But we grouped together, we stuck together, and we dragged each other through tough times.
“We are like a family. We are like each other’s sisters, and with the staff as well we are a tight group. We just want to enjoy the moment.”
