Bristol City Women to play first game of new season at Ashton Gate

Bristol City Women will play at Ashton Gate for the first time in two years in their opening game of the 2019/20 Barclays FA Women’s Super League season.

The Robins’ season opener against Brighton & Hove Albion will take place on Saturday, September 7 at 3pm.

Bristol City Women manager Tanya Oxtoby said: “It’s fantastic that our season opener against Brighton is going to be played at Ashton Gate.

“I think this highlights the strong connectivity between the men and the women’s side of our club and I know the girls are really excited to be playing at such a brilliant stadium.”

The fixture falls during the international break for City men, with Bristol City Women chairman and Bristol City CEO Mark Ashton calling it the “next step in the development of the relationship between both City men and women”.

Ashton said: “We believe this fixture can be another catalyst to propel women’s football in the South West forward, especially after such a successful Women’s World Cup.”
