Former tank commander named new Bristol City chief exec
A former tank commander in the British Army, who was educated at Bristol Grammar School and was most recently chief executive of Surrey County Cricket Club, has been named as the new CEO of Bristol City.
Richard Gould returns to football and to Ashton Gate after a 16-year absence, having been commercial director of Bristol City between 2001 and 2005 before joining Somerset CCC and then Surrey.
Gould is also the son of Bobby Gould, who has the rare distinction of having played for and managed both Bristol City and Bristol Rovers.

Also educated at Harvard Business School, 51-year-old Gould will arrive at Ashton Gate in mid-June, replacing former chief exec Mark Ashton who is moving to Ipswich.
City Chairman Jon Lansdown said that Gould “has the right skills and qualities we need”.
“He has a sport, military and business background, as well as a strong local connection, and we have no doubt that he is the right person to lead this club forward.”
Gould said: “I am really excited to be returning to Bristol City and the area. I understand the scale of ambition and also the energy required to fulfil that.
“There is a lot of hard work ahead and I am looking forward to meeting the challenges we face alongside Steve, Jon, Nigel and the rest of the club.”
