By bcfc.co.uk  Sunday Dec 1, 2019

Bristol City Women were on the receiving end of the biggest victory in Women’s Super League history against Arsenal at Meadow Park.

Vivianne Miedema scored six times for Arsenal, which is also the most goals scored in a single WSL match by an individual – bringing her tally up to 22 goals in 13 starts so far this season.

Arsenal raced into a two-goal lead in the space of three minutes. First, Lisa Evans headed home Miedema’s cross for the opener and soon after Leah Williamson also put the ball into the back of the net, Miedema again the provider.

Miedema scored the first of her six after peeling off her marker before checking back in and finding the bottom corner. The striker completed her hat-trick before the first up was up, twice converting Lisa Evans’ crosses.

The Netherlands international completed a double hat-trick in the second period with a goal from Jordan Nobbs and Evans between each strike, and Emma Mitchell rounded off the scoring for the hosts after coming off the bench to make it eleven.

City Women scored a consolation from the spot after Yana Daniels was taken down by Manuela Zinsberger and the Belgian stepped up and pulled back the smallest consolation goal at the second attempt after her initial penalty was saved.
