Match report: Brentford 1-1 Bristol City

By James Crawley  Wednesday Oct 2, 2019

A late goal from Andreas Weimann secured a hard-fought point against Brentford at Griffin Park.

The striker was well positioned to take his tally to four goals for the season, heading in from a Jack Hunt cross in front of the jubilant 1,600 travelling supporters.

Brentford had taken the lead earlier in the second half when Josh Dasilva picked out the top corner under the lights in West London.

But the 1-1 result sees City picked up yet another point on the road and they have now scored in all but one match in the 2019/20 Sky Bet Championship to date.

“It’s an important time late on in the game. It’s absolutely fundamental and a characteristic of these boys that they’ll go to the end and I was just so proud of them for digging in,” said City head coach Lee Johnson.

“I thought the fans were great, they really stuck with the boys.”

He added: “Three draws on the spin is not ideal, we want to get wins, but every point counts and it could be an important point come the end of the season.”
