Match report: Bristol City 1-0 Reading

By James Crawley  Saturday Oct 5, 2019

Famara Diédhiou’s first-half header ensured City head into the international break on the back of three points.

He rose to meet Niclas Eliasson’s 12th minute cross and compound more misery on Reading’s slow start to the season.

City looked in control for much of the fixture though the Royals had their moments, but not enough to really cause the home side problems in BS3.

The 1-0 scoreline means City head into the break unbeaten since the opening day and rise to sixth in the Sky Bet Championship table.

“I’m absolutely delighted with the win though at times it was an agonising watch, particularly in the second half, but credit goes to the players,” City head coach Lee Johnson said.

“After three big games this week and coming away with five points, I’m very happy with them.

“I know it wasn’t vintage for the fans in terms of crosses raining in but with the third game in a week I knew how tough that would be with the exertion our boys put in.”
