Match report: Bristol City 1-2 Millwall

By James Crawley  Tuesday Dec 10, 2019

Millwall scored a goal in either half to get the better of Bristol City in a 2-1 win at Ashton Gate.

The first half saw City far from the standard they had set themselves in recent times, and fell behind after 11 minutes when Jed Wallace fired a low shot under Dan Bentley’s hand.

Gary Rowett’s side set up defensively with a sea of dark blue shirts, frustrating the home side who went closest through a Josh Brownhill effort.

The Robins had not secured a home win over the Lions since January 2012 and while there were signs of improvement, helped by encouragement from the home fans, Millwall struck again when Jake Cooper beat Bentley with a glancing header.

Substitute Callum O’Dowda rifled in a late consolation but the result succumbed City to only their second home defeat of the season.
