Rovers relegated to League Two
Bristol Rovers manager Joey Barton said that “there really isn’t that much to say” to his players after relegation was confirmed following a 1-0 defeat at Portsmouth.
“There’s no point getting after them. There’s no point. They’re not bad lads. They’re just not at the required level in many many departments.”
Barton said that with the processes in place at the club, relegation “should never happen”, but he added that his team “could have been out there all day, we ain’t gonna score a goal with what we’ve got going on at this moment”.
is needed now More than ever
The Gas’ five-year spell in League One was ended by Ronan Curtis’ goal for Pompey in the 27th minute.
It was Rovers’ third straight defeat without scoring and their eighth loss in their past ten games, with Barton the club’s third manager in a season that fans will hope to forget.
