Gloucestershire cricket club offering free ‘health MOT’
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is hosting a free health MOT and advice fair.
The Bishopston club is holding a community health and wellbeing fair at their Seat Unique Stadium on Sunday, January 15.
The event is to support the South Asian and Afro-Caribbean population but all adults are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Resources on offer will include mini health checks and advice on a range of health conditions, especially focusing on risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
Talks and seminars for healthy eating and lifestyle advice will also take place, as well as signposting and information from the British Heart Foundation. There will also be an opportunity for people to gain mental health support and talk about their wellbeing.
Organisers hope the fair will attract adults who may have health concerns or would like a check-up, through showcasing what opportunities are locally available to them to become more active.
Pete Lamb, who works as the head of community at Gloucestershire Cricket, based at the Seat Unique Stadium, said: “As a Club it’s vital that we are continually supporting our community in many ways.
“January tends to be a good time for people to understand their health and what opportunities there are to improve it. It’s exciting to think that this event could play a part in encouraging change in the health and habits of Bristol residents.”
The event is in collaboration with Accure Health Consultancy, Wesport, Gloucestershire Cricket and Wellspring Settlement. Several charities and volunteer health and social care professions have been involved in a collaborative approach “to support and improve the health outcomes of communities.”
The event will run from 11am-6pm at the cricket ground. It is a free drop in event with no appointments needed.
