Ashton Gate hosts Red Roses in history-making win over Wales
Before they jet off to New Zealand for the delayed Rugby World Cup 2021, England paid a visit to BS3 and demonstrated precisely what makes them the best team in the world.
Ashton gate hosted England’s Red Roses for the first time ever as they set a new world record of 25 games unbeaten by dispatching Wales 73-7 in their final world cup warm up.
Their ruthless performance in front of a raucous Ashton Gate crowd saw them run in 11 tries, including three from centre Helena Rowland.
is needed now More than ever
This win writes the Red Roses into the history books as they surpass the Cyrpus men’s team to go 25 games unbeaten, the longest winning run in international rugby.
As with other sporting events this week, the Queen’s 70-year reign was marked by a round of applause on the 70th minute, in addition to the minute’s silence held just before kick-off.
The two teams will now select their respective world cup squads, before travelling to New Zealand where England take on France, South Africa and Fiji in Pool C. Wales, as well as Australia and Scotland in Pool A.
With results like this, we could well see the Red Roses returning to Bristol in the future.
