Bristol Bears pay tribute to The Office as they end 2020 with win at Quins

By Martin Booth  Saturday Dec 26, 2020

It was a good day at the office for Bristol Bears on Boxing Day.

At least it was in the second half, which was fortunate as if Bristol had not won at Harlequins then this video would have remained in the social media team’s unsent folder:

The video, filmed at the team’s high performance centre in Failand with help from sponsors Blackstar Solutions, sees half a dozen players doing their best impressions of life behind a desk in a homage to the opening credits of the US version of The Office.

Starring Pat Lam in his Christmas jumper in the Steve Carell role, the video also features Dan Thomas, Steven Luatua, Nathan Hughes and John Afoa.

Bristol’s players could have been making an unexpectedly quick return trip to Failand on Boxing Day.

Talking to BT Sport as play continued at the Stoop, Lam said that during the half-time break, he had opened the dressing room door and told his players that if they did not want to play the Bristol Bears way, they could get back on the bus and go home.

Nobody took him up on his offer and Bristol’s last match of 2020 saw them battle back to win 27-19 with tries from The Office‘s Thomas and Luatua, and two more from Harry Randall and Niyi Adeolokun.
