Bristol Rugby again fail to win promotion

Bristol Rugby missed out on promotion to the Premiership with the last kick of the match at Worcester after finishing the game with 13 men.

Another season in the second tier now beckons for Bristol with a 30-30 draw meaning a 59-58 aggregate loss for Bristol over the two legs of the Championship play-off final.

It was 30 points to 16 to Bristol with 10 minutes left.

Bristol were tantalisingly close to finally securing promotion but a penalty try and then another try in the last minute of the game sealed Bristol’s fate.

Bristol have now failed to win the Championship play-off for six seasons in a row and fail to make it a unique treble for sport in the city after both Bristol City and Bristol Rovers secured promotion.
