Former Bearpit sculpture Ursa returns on new Bears away kit
Ten years since it was built and four years since it was dismantled, Ursa is making a reappearance on Bristol Bears’ new away kit for the upcoming season.
The black and white sculpture by artist Jamie Gillman became an unofficial symbol of our city during its time in the Bearpit before it was removed following legal notices from the city council.
Gillman has now helped recreate Ursa as part of the Bears’ new black-and-white strip to be worn by the club’s men’s and women’s teams.

The new away shirt will be available to buy in-store at Ashton Gate on Thursday when the Bears men’s team take on the Barbarians in a curtain-raiser ahead of the new Premiership season.
