24 hours in the life of a first year student
7am
You wake up, amazed by the amount of sleep you didn’t have before the lecture today. Wow. 7 am has NEVER felt earlier than it does today.
8am
After dragging yourself out of bed, getting dressed you wander into your shared kitchen wondering how the heck there is so many dirty dishes? Heading to the fridge hoping that somehow the milk you finished yesterday will have been replaced. You end up settling for the frozen toast that mum shoved in your freezer that day you moved in.
8.40am
After checking your phone, you realise you should have left about 20 minutes ago and rush out. As you speed through Cabot, you see the 71 leave, and wait what seems like hours for the next one.
9.20am
Damn. I wish I had made coffee. Once I’m out of this lecture I am definitely going to get one. Looking around at your mates, you realise that you’re not the only one in need of that caffeine fix.
10.30 am
Screw it. I probably need this hour gap for that reading I didn’t finish. £3 entry to Love Inn tonight. I should definitely forward the event to the group chat.
3pm
Sweet freedom. Or maybe just freedom ‘til Thursday. You and your mates from the seminar decide that you want to go charity shopping as it is still early. If you get off the 71 near Loot you can go in there first. You weren’t going to buy anything but that jacket was too nice to not buy at that price. You then continue walking up Cheltenham to Gloucester Road checking out the charity shops. Grabbing your favourite drink from the Blue Lagoon.
7pm
On the way back home you grab a bottle of the cheapest vino on sale from Tesco. Who knew you could appreciate anything as much as you appreciate ready-made pizza? Pre-drinks is downstairs so you can chill out for a while, maybe even watch something on Netflix while getting ready.
8pm
Pre-drinks is already happening and you barely arrived, and there are already talks about moving on to the first bar of the night. But not before attempting a drinking game of some sorts.
9pm
Everyone decides to head towards Full Moon. Grabbing a beverage or two before going up to Love Inn. Spotting other people you end up staying for longer than expected, but not long enough to miss out on cheap entry.
11pm
You get to Love Inn, seeing the world’s largest entry. But you know the night will be worth it so stick it out. Once in you hear those tunes that you’ve been waiting all night for. Spending the night switching between the dancefloor and chatting outside in the smoking area. They’re playing some absolute bangers tonight.
3.50am
Is a night out even a night out without getting food on the walk home?
4am
Unlocking the door to your room, you jump under your covers, knowing you had a sick night, forgetting about the hangover you’ll have in the morning.
