Exploring Bristol via Instagram

By Mary Richardson  Thursday Oct 12, 2017

Moving to a new city is overwhelming whatever the case, but newcomers to Bristol universities are certainly in for a treat with the city’s colourful architecture, impressive topography and world famous street art.

But how does one find the rarer gems of Bristol from an insider’s perspective, or rather through their lens?

That’s where Instagram comes in. Bristolians around the city post its best angles every day so the popular app is a great tool to access the wealth of experience a true Bristolian can offer, whether that be the prettiest streets to wander along, the least expected Bristol hobbies (stand up paddle boarding is surprisingly popular!) or the cool events happening in the city.

Here are some great Bristol based Instagrammers to follow to keep up with all things Bristol:

@Porthjess – Cliftonwood-based Jess posts the best of Bristol: vintage cars, coloured terraced houses and seasonal flowers.

@Bristoldoors – Expect doors. Who knew doors could be so pretty?

@ellabonbella_x – Ella goes all over Bristol so she’s a great account to follow to escape the BS8 bubble. Get ready to peak into Southville, Totterdown and Stokes Croft through her lens.

@richimal_bristol – A great account to follow for hot air balloons and harbour shots

@nataliebrereton – Photos of food. Lots of food. Natalie loves stuffing her face with Bristol’s biggest burgers and isn’t afraid of showing the consequences.

@Bristol247 – Of course! Tag your Instagram photos with #bristol247 to be featured in Bristol’s best free monthly magazine and on our website.
