Sports teams to watch in Bristol
Bristol has many professional sports teams that compete all around the city, so get yourself a ticket to see your favourite local sides in action.
Football
When it comes to football, Bristol is divided between League One Bristol Rovers and Championship side Bristol City. Catch Rovers at their home in Horfield’s Memorial Stadium as they take on Coventry City on September 22, where tickets are £16 for ages 16-21.
But if you lean towards the City side south of the river then get down to Ashton Gate to watch them in action against Aston Villa on September 28, and the likes of Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion later in the season.
Women’s football is also on the rise in Bristol, with Bristol City WFC playing in the Women’s Super League One, the highest division of women’s football. Catch them at home in the Stoke Gifford Stadium as they challenge Everton Ladies on September 30.

Rugby
The Bristol Bears Women currently play in the Tyrrell’s Premier 15’s, and train and play home fixtures at Cleve RFC. They are due to take on the DMP Sharks at home on September 29, and are facing teams such as the Harlequins and Loughborough Lightning throughout the year.
Things are looking up for the men’s side this season after regaining their place in the top division, and are due to play their fifth game of the season at home at Ashton Gate against the Northampton Saints on September 29, so grab yourself a ticket.
Basketball
University is all about new experiences, and with this in mind, a cheap indoor option for sport lovers as winter creeps in is catching a match when the Bristol Flyers are playing at home. For a team in the British Basketball League, the nation’s top-tier competition, £12 per ticket for under 25s and a pound less for under 22s is a tremendous bargain to watch some high-quality basketball. Catch them on October 6 against the Glasgow Rocks, one of their home fixtures played at SGS WISE Arena. A stone’s throw away from UWE’s Frenchay Campus, transport to the arena is always easy.
