Bristol24/7 launches this year’s Student Guide

By Mia Vines Booth  Thursday Sep 22, 2022

Every year thousands of students descend on Bristol’s clubs, bars, galleries, vintage shops and streets to experience the fruits of our wonderful city.

And while some residents may turn their noses up at this eclectic bunch of excitable freshers, it is difficult to deny how much they bring to this city. From our vibrant music scene to our rich fashion culture, students make up the backbone of Bristol.

So, what better way to celebrate this culture than to print an annual student guide.

This year’s guide is a real treat for students. We’ve purposefully made it as varied as possible, with a huge amount of insider tips and tricks from students themselves and the wider cultural institutions and figures of Bristol.

Read the 2022 Bristol24/7 Student Guide below:

There is a music calendar, a club calendar, a definitive pub crawl, a ‘best places to study’ column, a map of Bristol and most importantly, Bristol’s best vegetarian and vegan late night takeaways. There’s also alternative entertainment guides, graduate tips, the best budget local businesses and realistic tips on how to be green as a student.

We also wanted to make it really inclusive for students and in terms of what we chose to highlight and celebrate. Bristol is a sprawling city with an abundance of community organisations, projects and outreach programmes that lie outside the bustling centre.

This year we really wanted to include places students might not normally go to, both to make sure they get to see another side of Bristol, and to celebrate many of our local businesses that lie tucked away from the well-trodden path.

We have also updated this year’s guide with more tips to get students through the cost of living crisis and to offer more advice to support students’ mental health. It’s a hugely challenging year to start university, but we’re sure Bristol’s universities will provide all the support students need to make these years their best yet.

We also want to thank the amazing contributors to this year’s guide, for whom this magazine would be impossible to make without. We’d like to thank the editors of both the University of Bristol’s Epigram newspaper, and UWE Bristol’s Hub magazine, for helping us commission dozens of articles, as well as the experienced students themselves, for giving their time to celebrate their city.

Internally, we couldn’t be prouder of our spectacular sales and editorial team, who all pulled together to hopefully make this year’s guide the best yet. It’s been a pleasure to work on, but also a very nostalgic journey, as reading and writing articles for the guide has made me look back at my own time at university more times than I can count.

It’s amazing to have all this information in one place, and our hope is that this year’s guide will be a bible for students in Bristol.
