Freshers week is full on. Trying to juggle more names than you’ll ever remember, joining more societies than you have time for and deciding which club is actually cool can be a bit much. So we’ve made it a little easier for you by lining up 10 things you should check out this week.

1.Garage Classics Party at The Small Horse (13th)

Get your Freshers started early with this UK garage night at The Small Horse Social Club. Headed by garage legend DJ Pied Piper.

2. After Hours at Basement 45 (13th)

If garage isn’t your scene head down to Basement 45 for a night of 4×4, bassline and grime.

3. Back of the Bus at Lakota (14th)

With their mainroom featuring Oxide & Neutrino, Sweet Female Attitude and Buckfast Boys Club, their second space boasting Boomtown vibes with a dash of OAP decoration from Grandmas Living Room, and a mix of house, disco and techno from their third room, Back of the Bus will be anything but dull. Fully kitted out with a tent, bouncy castle and photobooth van, this will take you back to the cool kids playing walkmans while sitting on the backrow of the schoolbus.

4 . UWE x Prefix Presents: The BIG Freshers Giveaway at Pryzm (15th)

In a blend of house, techno, bassline, 2-step and grime, some of Bristol’s best DJS host this night at Pryzm, including  Plus over £2000 worth of giveaways.

5. Pizza Party at Pizzarova (15th)

Pizzarova on Gloucester Road are giving away free pizza to everyone from 4pm, just to say thanks! Round up your mates, drop in and order the classic ‘The Lady’ pizza, and eat in for free.

6. Flatbush Zombies at O2 Academy (15th)

Hip-hop group Flatbush Zombies hail from Flatbush in Brooklyn, New York. Following sold out events all over the road they’re now stopping off in Bristol. Don’t miss it.

7. MC Devvo: The Retirement Tour at Thekla (16th)

Another chance to go to a Back of the Bus night, Thekla are hosting Mc Devvo. Support from the Buckfast Boys Club and Stone & West.

8. Nightcal at Motion (17th)

Lee Walker of Freak Like Me remix fame performs alongside Punctual and Motion Residents for a night of house, techno and disco.

9. Independent Label market at St Nicholas Market (18th)

Craft ales serves alongside a massive list of live music all day. Free afterparty at The Small Horse.

10. Belatrix with Eva Lazarus & the Afronaughts at Colston Hall (18th) 

Beatboxer, double-bassist and singer, Belatrix is a triple threat. The world champion is treating Bristol to an evening of multi-tasking music. Supported by Bristol’s own Eva Lazarus with her new band, The Afronaughts, and Saffron Records’ new signing, China Bowls.
