Generate

Date: Friday, Jun 28 2019 - Thursday, Jul 4 2019
Venue: Royal West of England Academy

The next generation of talented graduates from the Theatre Design, Scenic Art and Costume courses at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School showcase their work at the RWA.

From vampires at Circomedia to Dickens on Bristol Old Vic’s main stage, and from contemporary theatre at The Wardrobe to Brecht at the Tobacco Factory, it’s been quite a season for the School.

In all these shows, the design and making of the set, props and costumes, and the painting and construction of the scenery has been undertaken in-house, by students from the School’s creative and production departments.

Visitors to the exhibition will see beautiful original design drawings, scale theatre box models, spectacular costumes and striking works of art, providing an insight into how a designer’s vision is realised for the stage. In addition to the work relating to the School’s shows, thematic displays will cover a range of fascinating topics, from maternity wear through history to contemporary circus costume.

RWA, June 28-July 4, Tue-Sat 10am-5.30pm / Sun 11am-5pm, free. For more info, visit  oldvic.ac.uk/events-shows/generate
