Makers of Tomorrow
Exhibition of educational projects and collaborations between Bristol’s Ken Stradling Collection and schools, colleges and universities in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Cardiff.
The show will include ceramics, glass, drawings, prints, exhibition design, photography and textiles displayed alongside objects from the KSC from which the students have taken their inspiration.
The exhibition plots a journey from the work of 12-year-olds in Year 7 through school to college and university, which could lead onto a career in the creative industries.
is needed now More than ever
“The aim of Makers of Tomorrow is to encourage young and aspiring makers to undertake that journey from school to a career in the arts and show how the Ken Stradling Collection can support them and their teachers” says David Beech, of the KSC Education and Community Outreach programme. “The work on display has been made over the past year and really illustrates what a rewarding collaboration it has been.”
Contributors include pupils from Bedminster Down School and Bristol Metropolitan Academy, students from Bristol School of Art (SGS College), University of the West of England (UWE) and Cardiff School of Art and Design.
The Ken Stradling Collection is a museum of world-class British and European design from the mid 20th century to the present day. Stradling began collecting at the age of 16 in 1938 and since 2015 the Collection has been open to the public at 48 Park Row. Makers of Tomorrow is putting into action Stradling’s belief that everyone should have access to good design.
