Centrespace 40th Anniversary Exhibition
Centrespace Studios & Gallery present their 40th anniversary exhibition.
“Celebrating 40 years as a co-operative providing 30 low cost studios and workshops.
“Located in Leonard Lane, in the medieval part of Bristol city centre, the organisation is unique in the region for its continued self sufficiency and independence.
is needed now More than ever
“In 2000, the Centrespace Gallery was fitted out and runs as a not for profit affordable exhibition space for hire.
“More than 200 skilled artists, designers and makers since 1977 have worked in the building and been active members of the co-operative.
This exhibition is a rare opportunity for visitors to observe and experience the wealth and diversity of the professional talent that Centrespace continues to nurture as well an insight into the complexities and challenges of running a creative organisation.
“The event profiles the work of the current membership, including award winning contemporary craft, glass, ceramics, illustrators, graphic designers, traditional upholstery, printmakers, animation, fine artists, environmental architectural design and much more.
“Recent artists’ collaborations with local historical organisations, produced two beautifully illustrated guides to the old city and inspired an Arts Council funded artists’ residency in the gallery during 2015. The event will also present archive images of the building, past events and members at work.
